READ MORENorasha (8), Norsi (9), Anilove (9) and Angel (7) are students of Sanguiaran Central Elementary School, who were forced to leave Marawi when the fighting started. These students have folded peace cranes as an offering for the conflict there to cease and for them to return back home safely.
They dream of someday returning to Marawi to go back to school, help other people who have been in the same situation and reunite with their families.
Norasha – “I want to go back to our place even if we have no house, which was burned down. I’ll ride on my [peace crane]. . . so that I can study.”
Norsi – “I don’t like corned beef and sardines, we’ve been eating them for one month. I’ll ride on my [peace crane] to go home so that I can eat vegetables.”
Anilove – “My mom’s not here, she’s in a far place where she’s working as a labandera so that we can eat. My father has no job when the conflict started. When the fighting stops, my [peace crane] will follow my mother and father. We’ll go home and be together again.”
Angel – “My [peace crane] will fly so that I can thank those who helped us.”
